It is consistently ranked amongst top 10 Law Colleges in India by reputed magazines like India Today, Outlook, Business Barons, The Week, Lawyers Collective, Times of India, Indian Express, etc. The Law College is re-accredited with ‘A+’ Grade in its third cycle by NAAC.
AWARDS & ACCOLADES:
At the Golden Jubilee Celebration of BCI, the College was felicitated with ‘Gold Star Award’ in recognition of special services rendered in the field of legal education. Hon’ble Prof. Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Chancellor, BVDU, the recipient of ‘National Law Day Award’, was also felicitated by BCI in recognition to his valuable contribution in the domain of legal education.
INFRASTRUCTURE:
The new seven storied building of the Law College was inaugurated in the year 2005 at the hands of Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.C. Lahoti, the then Chief Justice of India. It consists of 32 classrooms, moot court room, human rights cell, cyber cell, placements cell, legal aid cell, research cell and auditorium.
KNOWLEDGE PARTNERS:
The College has teaching faculty comprising of retired judges of Supreme Court and High Courts, eminent academicians, senior lawyers, social activists and eminent jurists from abroad. The College has highly qualified and learned faculty members of which 9are Ph.D holders while 10 others are Ph.D scholars. Senior advocates like Adv. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Adv. Soli J. Sorabjee, Adv. Geeta Luthra, Adv. Pinky Anand, etc. are invited to guide the law students. International Knowledge Partners from reputed universities in U.K. & U.S.A. also visits the Law College regularly.
INNOVATIVE INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAMME:
The College offers B.B.A. Law (5 year Interdisciplinary Programme). There are also various para legal courses offered. Special Skill Development and MOOC programmes are also provided. Finishing Law School is yet another unique programme which has introduced to harness the legal acumen of students that trains them into hard core professionals, raises their prospects just for employability skills apt for litigation and the practice of law.
ICT TEACHING METHODS:
The College has E-Facility in Library, classrooms and moot court room. Emphasis is given on ICT Teaching and Learning Methods. The College has an E-Court room in its building.
CLINICAL LEGAL EDUCATION:
The College regularly conducts field work, seminars, workshops, court visit, project work as a part of its curriculum.
LIBRARY:
The College has a library worth Rs. 2.7 crore. In addition to the text books, the College has international journals, online legal databases like Lexis Nexis, Manupatra, Westlaw, SCC Online etc. The Library is equipped with Cyber Cell consisting of more than 200 computers, with free internet and wi-fi facility. The College also has a video-conferencing facility.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS:
The Law College has collaborated with renowned universities in U.K., U.S.A. & Europe. The College has also established academic linkages with University of Oxford, Harvard Law School, John Marshall Law School, University of Reading, UK, Nottingham Trent University, UK, Chuhai College of Higher Education, Hong Kong etc. The Collaboration aims at joint research programmes, teacher-student exchange programmers, research activities, international mooting and joint international conferences.
INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITITIONS:
The students of the College have participated and won several international and national moot court competitions during last 9 years. The College has recently conducted Justice P.N. Bhagwati 8th International Moot Court Competition on Human Rights wherein 14 international and 30 national teams from top law schools participated. The competition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra, Chief Justice of India through video conferencing in the presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.K. Kaul, Judge, Supreme Court of India. The College has also signed MoU with Surana & Surana international Attorneys and conducted a unique National Trial Advocacy Moot Court & Judgment Writing Competition on Criminal Law.
CONTINUOUS LEGAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
The College in collaboration with International Bar Association (IBA) & MILAT organizes continuous Legal Education programmes wherein free training is provided to young lawyers, judges, police personnel and teachers for their professional career advancement.
RESEARCH CENTRES:
The College is recognized by UGC under 2f & 12 (B) of the UGC Act for research and development grants. The College has Indo-European Legal Study &International Research Centre and also International IPR Research Centre. This College publishes Bharati Law Journal (ISSN: 2278-6996) which is a UGC approved Law Journal. The faculty has published more than 397 articles in reputed national and international journals and 21 Books. Minor and Major Research Projects are also undertaken.
LEGAL AID:
The College has Legal Aid Cell which is administered by senior advocates from Supreme Court and High Courts. The Legal Aid Clinic of College has resolved 872 cases successfully.
It provides free legal aid to the needy and poor persons who seek social justice. Students are encouraged to participate in Lok-Adalats, Legal Aid Camps, Legal Aid Clinics and community service programmes. The College has established special Family Legal Aid Cell to help women and children.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
To enhance the professional skills of the students, the Law College conducts All India Bar Examination training programmes, judicial services training programmes, mock-parliament, intra-collegiate moot court competitions, essay competitions, workshops, seminars, research projects and NSS activities. Sports and Cultural facilities are adequately provided.
